In July, my family and I went to Asbury Park for my lovely cousin Sarah’s wedding to her husband Sal. A month before the wedding, Sarah and Sal and I photographed their dreamy engagement session on the same beach that we would be photographing on the day of their wedding. Click here to see their dreamy engagement session. The weather on the wedding day did not mimic the warm and sunny day we got for the engagement. Instead, we worked with incredible winds, chilly weather, and most unfortunately…rain. But that did not stop us from taking some stunning photos in the convention center and on the boardwalk. We then headed to the Supper Club for a very unique wedding and reception. Scroll below to see some highlights from the day! To see more work from this Asbury Park Wedding Photographer, click here.
how they met…
We met in November 2016 through a mutual acquaintance- someone who didn’t know either of us very well but knew we’d make a good match! The night I met Sal, I knew he was the one
how he asked…
we went hiking in a beautiful place called Minnewaska state park in NY. When we got to the top of a 5 hour hike, Sal surprised me by proposing in a picture perfect setting. It was perfect! He also planned ahead and had dinner planned with our families for that night at a great restaurant in Princeton. It was so special to be with everyone to celebrate.
theme & details…
Our theme included lots of flowers, (Hydrangeas, Roses, Lisianthus), silver and gold mercury glass candle holders, and driftwood. We also incorporated family wedding photos as a reminder of all of our loved ones’ special days. Rose gold- the girls could wear any shade of pink or champagne and sequins/sparkles were encouraged.
Our ceremony was the most special time of the day. We wrote our own vows and they were so heartfelt- I’ll never forget hearing sals vows to me. Also, we incorporated a song by a friend who’s an opera singer (perfect symphony by ed Sheehan). It was so emotional, lots of people were crying!
the biggest surprise…
The weather- it was terrible! It got worse and worse throughout the day. Not only was it rainy, but the gusting wind made it impossible to take pictures outside. We made the most of it- and at the end of the day we’re happy with our inside ceremony. It was an adjustment though, since we were looking forward to a beach ceremony.
