The week before Chris and Maria got married was beautiful. But there was a looming threat of rain that would be on its way right in time for their wedding on Saturday. I called Maria to discuss options with her and even though we were both praying with everything that we had to offer, we knew that the rain was unavoidable. Saturday came and so did the rain, but not once would you believe that it put a damper on the beautiful day ahead of Maria and Chris. Maria’s father had built a patio a few years before, and managed to hang curtains around it, making it the BEST getting ready and portrait area that I’ve ever worked with on a rainy day. While Maria and her ladies were getting ready at her home, Chris and his men were at his house, getting ready, hanging with their bulldog, and waiting for the bus to come and collect them for the ceremony which took place at Maria’s home parish. After a tearful first look with Maria’s father, the ladies boarded the bus and headed off to the ceremony. Chris was beaming when Maria graced the aisle and after the traditional Catholic ceremonies were over, the couple was pronounced husband and wife and shared their first kiss. After the ceremony, we headed back to the patio to complete the portraits before heading to the venue for the reception. 160 guests met the couple there and cheered as they processed in and shared their first dance. Chris’s mom, who smiled down from heaven that day, was certainly present for her son’s dance with his aunt and also for his brother’s heartfelt “Best Man” speech. I sobbed my eyes out during every dance and only pulled myself back into party mode when the couple shared a hilarious cake smash followed by a ridiculous amount of dancing. My second shooter, Cynee and assistant Reilly were fabulous as always and I am so excited to present Maria and Chris with their first glimpse of their wedding images. Congratulations guys! I am so incredibly happy for you! For more work from this Maple Shade Wedding Photographer, click here.
How they met…
Chris and I met through mutual friends about 12 years ago. I used to race dragsters at Atco Raceway and Chris used to race quads at the dirt track at Atco. So needless to say we had similar interests in motor sports. We have been together for 2 and a half years.
A word from the bride…
Our wedding day was the best and most special day of my life. We were so lucky so be surrounded with so much love and support from both of our family and friends.
Highlights of the day…
Pictures on my parents patio. This was definitely something my Dad was amazed by because he built that patio a few years ago and was so honored that we could use it for the wedding day. My first dance with Chris was so special and at that moment, no one else was in the room. Also Chris’s dance was so special with his aunt because you knew that his mom was looking down on them at that very moment.
The DIY Details…
Flower boxes for cocktail hour built by Chris and stained by me. Frame that had “Welcome to the Wedding of Chris and Maria” built by Chris. I made our seating chart out of a large picture frame. I made the two flower garlands out of artificial flowers from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. I assembled the mason jars with fairy lights and flower petals.
